The Visit
There is a very happy sound track to begin with. This was to symbol how happy the family are and how happy the children are to go to their grandparents house. As soon as the first night came around in the trailer the soundtrack immediately changed. The music became a lot darker with so jumpy parts. The diegetic sounds of the children become screams in the second half of the trailer.
In the start of the trailer, the lighting was high key. This is to suggests that everything is happy and normal. At 47 seconds the light goes to low key. This is to show that it is now night, but the rest of the trailer is low key. This is to suggests that nothing is right anymore. everything has become more sinister.
There are different things in the mise en scene which represent different things. The cooking equipment at the start of the trailer suggests that the old couple like to spend their days with their grandchildren doing stereotypical things like cooking. The use of a laptop shows the main communication that the children have to their mother. This incorporates the modern era to the old fashioned house the old couple have.
The different shots can suggest different things. At the start of the trailer there is a long shot of the girl scaring her brother. The long shot makes it look more innocent, for if it was to be sinister, a different shot would have been used. There is a close up on to the laptop. This suggests that the device is quite important to the story.
The editing changes in the trailer. At the start of the trailer, it is very slow paced, for their lives seem perfect. Once the first night comes, it becomes more and more fast paced. This is to suggest that as the nights go on, the more dark the elderly couple get.
