10 Shots
In the horror genre, there are ten shots that are used in almost every film. These are the classic shots of horror. The classic ten shots are:
1) OFF KILTER (Where the camera is slanted, so it makes the audience think that there is something is about to go wrong with the victim)
2) OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT OF THE KILLER (Where the killer is looking at the victim)
3) CLOSE UP ON WEAPON (At the right angle, you can make the weapon look very sinister)
4) CLOSE UP / EXTREME CLOSE UP OF FEAR (Shows how scared the victim is)
5) 360 DEGREE SHOT TO SHOW ISOLATION / FEAR (Can also show power towards the killer)
6) HIGH ANGLE SHOT TO SHOW VICTIM’S VULNERABILITY (Show the killer looking down on victim)
7) LOW ANGLE SHOT TO SHOW THE POWER OF THE KILLER (The victim looking up at the killer)
8) HOW TO STAB SOMEONE WITHOUT HURTING THEM ( Can do this with retractable knives or stabbing them by their arm, if you don't show the knife going in to the body, it can be convincing. Also to show killer strangling victim, you have the killer pulling outwards and the victim pulling inwards on the hands. then the victim will be in control and it looks like a real strangling scene.)
9) POINT OF VIEW OF VICTIM AND KILLER AS VICTIM CRAWLS AWAY ON HER BACK AND KILLER APPROACHES (Do several of the killer walking towards victim and several of victim crawling away.)
10) USE THE POWER OF SUGGESTION… (Use signs through out. For example, a hand on the door's window suggests the victim dying or how the killer has just killed.)
