Sinister 2
At the start of the sequence, the sound that is used is an old movie camera. This sound would not have been usually used in a move, but this sound was to highlight that the film that the children were watching was old. This also implies that the trailer is set in the past. The use of an old childrens song implies innocence. This ties in with the trailer, because the innocence is being corrupted.
The lighting is majoritly in low key. This is to show that the house where the family is is evil. Only when you see the investigators, do you see some high key lighting, but as soon as they are in the house, the lighting goes back to low key. This was to show that the house tainted the men, that they are not totally innocent anymore.
Different types of mise en scene are used throughout the trailer. The prop of an old film canister, shows that the film is set a while back. The canister itself is quite old, which suggests that it has been passed around children quite a lot in its lifetime. The prop of having the children on a cross is symbolic. With the christian teachings, it shows that they are sacrificing the innocent to the darkness of evil.
Different shots are used to represent different things. There is a long shot used on a notice board. This is to show the impact of the things that the house has done to different people through news clippings and images. There are a lot of close up shots of the children assembling a camera. The assembly is quite complex, and for the children to put a camera up quite quickly means that they are heavily possessed. The off kilter shot of the boy rising in his bed immediately shows that there isn't anything right with him. That he has been possessed.
The editing is quite slow, but when it focuses on the younger boy it speeds up. This implies that the film is mostly based on the young child.
